Meet The Kofoeds.

Since opening the doors to the first Witheriff Group office in 2024, our goal has been to grow the business with intention and consideration. Two years on, an opportunity presented itself to expand operations; capture a bigger share of the market and diversify our offering in providing a premium service in the Tweed Shire real estate landscape. Earlier in February we proudly embarked on a partnership with Shannon and Katie Kofoed by opening the Witheriff Group Pottsville office. This collaboration between the Witheriff Group and Shannon and Katie Kofoed – who have had a long-standing presence and a deep connection to the area – just made sense. A family-business steeped in local knowledge. If there’s one thing Katie Kofoed knows, its Pottsville real estate. In 1994 her parents opened their real estate business in Pottsville right on the corner of Coronation Avenue. It became a second home and a hub for her, with afternoons spent walking from school to the office and pulling up a chair to tinker away at homework. Once she finished school, like many young people she left home in search of adventure, only to find the place she wanted to be was right back at home in the community that held such a special place. At 18 she became an agent and officially started selling alongside her parents, armed with decades of experience having watched the family business grow. As she settled into her groove, it was time to pave a new way forward when Katie and her husband rebranded the business to Pottsville Properties after her father retired. It was an opportunity to propel the operations into a new more streamlined era by updating the marketing, going paperless and introducing the now iconic black palm tree logo (which still takes pride of place on the office walls). Three years into their Pottsville Properties venture and Katie and Shannon toyed with the idea of taking their business into a new direction. Understanding their limitations as a boutique agency, they knew that in order to see growth, they needed to find a collaborator. However, for Shannon and Katie, they knew it was a decision that needed to be made carefully. An opportunity to expand in a dynamic market. The idea to partner with the Witheriff Group came about innocently enough but once it was spoken into existence it propelled with rapid fire. Shannon was enjoying a game of golf with Witheriff Group’s Associate Director of Sales, Jordan Brown, when they conjured up a “what if” while teeing up. Witheriff Group Director, Nick Witheriff, quickly came on board to co-sign the brilliant idea and before long the Witheriff Group Pottsville office venture was quickly in motion. The synergies between Witheriff Group and Pottsville Properties were plentiful and Katie and Shannon quickly realised the many benefits that could come from aligning with such an established and prestigious brand. “It allows obviously us to go into what we specialise in,” says Shannon. “The opportunity in that for us to grow out is pretty big. Now we can focus on growth rather than being confined by our capacity.” And the future looks bright for this new look Witheriff Group Pottsville outfit. Both Shannon and Katie are excited to leverage the support that comes from being aligned with the Witheriff Group whilst still retaining their incredibly deft touch on serving the local area. “We’re excited to learn from the team,” says Katie. “You know, we’ve been both doing this for a long time now, but you can always learn more and understand different ways of doing things.” A new era, same experienced local team. The positives from this partnership are already being keenly felt just a month into the doors opening in Pottsville. Shannon and Katie Kofoed have undoubtedly captured this market with their high-level of professionalism and deep understanding of the local area. Now partnered with Witheriff Group they’re looking forward to taking that service and dialling up their capabilities while still respecting the ecosystem of this community. But in 2026 there is change in the air and the Kofoed’s are acutely aware of how Pottsville is becoming a more sought after postcode in the Tweed Coast area. “There are a lot of longtime locals here that I’ve even managed their properties for or we’ve sold for over the years,” says Katie. “We’re now seeing a lot of new faces and plenty of the older locals have now moved on. Despite that there is still a the core of the community a very relaxed village lifestyle that I don’t think will change despite the growth.” Now under the banner of the Witheriff Group, Shannon is excited to take advantage of the resources at hand and deliver to the community. “Partnering with the Witheriff Group brings Nick’s experience across the Kingscliff and Casuarina areas and adds a deeper this new expansion into Pottsville,” says Shannon. “This extra dimension gives us a broad reach. This is a specialised boutique agency that is focused on doing a great job. We’ve always tried to do work done on a smaller scale, whereas now we’ve got the capacity to be able to do that on a larger scale.” To learn more about the Witheriff Group Pottsville get in touch today – 02 66 74 3650.

Pottsville Emerges As Top Affordable Coastal Suburb.

Salt in the air. Morning beach walks. A relaxed pace of life. Getting a slice of coastal property is something dreams are made of. However, with low stock and increased demand, finding the perfect property within budget makes this dream harder to land. Unless you’re looking in the right places. Enter: Pottsville Beach, Australia. According to new data released by Domain, this Tweed Coast suburb has emerged as one of the most affordable postcodes for prospective buyers chasing a coastal property. The stats show that median house prices in Pottsville averaged $1,365,000 in 2025 and garnered a healthy increase of 7.5% annually. When you think about the hefty price points on properties in Byron Bay, which average around $2.5 million, for a considerable cut from the top line and just 30 minutes north you can land yourself a pretty spectacular coastal property in Pottsville. Citysiders might scoff at the prospect of purchasing a coastal property for under $1.5 million, but Pottsville is showing us that premium land is attainable. Why is Pottsville real estate so attractive to property buyers? At the Witheriff Group we pride ourselves on keeping dialled in to the market trends and having a keen understanding of suburbs with accelerating demand. We recently unveiled our new office in Pottsville partnering with tenured the tenured agents Shannon and Katie Kofoed who have serviced the area with great expertise under the Pottsville Properties business. This new era of expansion allows us to tap into the booming Pottsville real estate trend that has become increasingly sought after by buyers, sellers and investors. So, why is Pottsville real estate so attractive to property buyers? We sat down with Shannon and Katie Kofoed to gain some insights into why Pottsville real estate has experienced a huge moment of growth for those looking to secure a coastal property. Firstly, Shannon says Pottsville provides incredible value you when comparing prices to surrounding suburbs along the Tweed Coast. “As far as the coast is concerned, prices go up when you head north and prices go up when you head south,” Shannon says. “We’ve always represented better value to the areas around us. Once you hit Byron Shire, you know, your prices go up by almost a million.” To secure a coastal property at a median price of $1.5 million and still have the proximity to places like Byron Bay and the Gold Coast – the value of a Pottsville property speaks for itself. “If you want to be on the Tweed coast and have the attachment to all of the facilities and services that are on the Gold Coast and to still be within 10 minutes of Casuarina and Kingscliff – you can’t beat that,” Shannon says. For Katie Kofoed, who has grown up in the Pottsville area, she has seen the suburb evolve over time while still holding on to the charm of a quaint coastal town. “When I would say I grew up in Pottsville a lot of people didn’t know where it was,” Katie says. “And then that growth in influence of city buyers coming here during the COVID-19 period really started to spread the word.” There’s a lot to love about Pottsville. Now that it is firmly on the map, people are coming here and falling under the spell of its village-feel with a population of just under 7,000 people. The Pottsville weather is always on point with a trip down to the calm waters of Mooball Creek on the cards and a stop in at Baker and Farmer is a must-visit for a brekkie roll. And yes when people catch wind of an emerging vibrant coastal community, suddenly highly polished outfits like the award-winning, sustainable restaurant Pipit comes to town, bringing with it an influx of well-heeled customers. So goes the mechanics of why some regional coastal towns catch the wind of growth – someone comes to visit, they fall in love with the charm of the area and then purchasing a slice of property becomes a reality. The rest is history, as they say. An opportunity to buy well before the great regional migration boom. If you look at the most expensive coastal suburbs in NSW it’s not hard to see why people are searching for prospects that give them better value. For those well priced out of the Byron Shire, Pottsville real estate opens up a whole new world of opportunities for buyers and investors. With statistics showing Pottsville real estate as a great entry point for those wanting to secure a coastal property for under $1.5 million it’s a (terribly kept) secret that will only increase in demand over the coming years and decades. According to figures released by the NSW Government Planning department, regional NSW will grow by 600,000 people to reach 3.8 million by 2041. That’s a lot of people looking for a sea change. Their numbers show that this growth will be most keenly felt in areas around Tweed, Ballina, Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie with families and retirees seeking affordable property in coastal suburbs. Regional areas are experiencing rapid growth which presents buyers, sellers and investors a window to strike before the big migration boom that is expected to swell in coming decades. What does this mean for buyers, sellers and investors? At Witheriff Group we understand how important it is to keep a close ear to market trends and deliver a premium service based on the wants and needs of buyers, sellers and investors. Under the guidance of Shannon and Katie Kofoed we’re able to distil these emerging market findings and provide meaningful intel on how to best service our clients. Shannon says that Pottsville provides buyers and investors with unmatched diversity with options for coastal units, four-bedroom homes and sprawling acreage available in the area. In a hot rental market, the median weekly price for a four-bedroom property in Pottsville is $930 which provides an attractive yield for prospective investors. For sellers these four-bedroom homes are in demand with
